Let’s read our Bible together in 2020!

Hey there! I’m glad you’re here. And I hope you realize the importance of daily Bible reading. If you don’t, I hope I can change that in the next few minutes. I know from personal experience that a regime of daily Bible time is good for the Spirit. Coming from someone that has been on both sides… The side where I haven’t made the Bible a priority in my life, and the side where I set back time every single day to be sure I was in the Word. I am here to tell you that daily Bible reading has changed my life. And I want to share it with you.

First of all, lets just see what the Bible says about itself…

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.Matthew 24:35

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.Isaiah 40:8

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.Proverbs 30:5

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2 Timothy 3:16

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

What does the Bible say about what it is to you… Just look how powerful it is!

It can light your way. It can lead you in the right direction.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.Psalm 119:105

It can sanctify you. That means it can set you apart. Make you Holy.

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17

It’s where your faith comes from.

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

You will bear fruit by it.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:2-3

It will never return void.

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.Isaiah 55:11

It is perfect.

7 “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.” Psalm 19:7-11

Most importantly, the Bible teaches us how to be saved. It also teaches us the character of God. It teaches us how to be more like Him. What he loves and hates. In the Old Testament, God spoke to people audibly, in dreams, and through angels. Now, in our day, God speaks to us through His Word. How can you have a relationship with someone that you don’t talk to.
