My Word for 2021

Last year I started something new for me. I started choosing a word for the year. If I’m being honest, I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to my 2020 word. I did see it pop up here and there throughout the year though. So, this year, I want to be a little more intentional with my word.

To start with, my January Scripture Writing Plan is going to be geared towards my 2021 word.

And, I think our February Bible Study is going to fit perfectly with it.

I’m excited!

So, this year, I’ve chosen the word “focus”. Focus simply means “point of concentration”. I know it would really do me some good, in all areas of my life, to learn what’s really important. To train myself to focus on the things I should. On a day to day basis, what am I spending my time and energy on…

Do you find yourself scattered all over the place throughout your day? Do you find that you have a short fuse when it comes to the people you love most? Do you find it hard to get your daily tasks completed?

Maybe you need to shift your focus!

This year at a women’s conference, one of the speakers said something that has really stuck with me. “Keep the main thing, the main thing.” Thanks Kristen! 😉

Here’s a few Bible verses to meditate on. If you don’t already have a word for 2021, I’d love to share mine with you! I hope you’ll prayerfully consider it.

  • “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Colossians 3:2
  • “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3
  • “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8
  • “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33
  • “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
  • “Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.” Psalm 119:2
  • “I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.” Psalm 119:15
  • “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” Colossians 3:23
  • “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

When I relaunched my blog in 2019, I chose 1 Corinthians 10:31 kind of as my theme verse. I think a lot of our problems could easily be resolved and not really even problematic if we referred to this verse more often.

And Colossians 3:23 can help us keep our motives in check! What are we focused on and why!

So, I hope you’ll join me in 2021! Let’s use God’s Holy Word to take our focus off the diversions and keep the main thing, the main thing.

The perfect way to start off the new year…
